Stay-at-home-mum becomes Freddie For A Day

Anne van Dam channels Freddiness into her day at home

11/09/2012

Just heard about this two hours ago, and while my quickly-thrown-together get up isn't Drag Freddie with any degree of accuracy, I'm channeling Freddie in my heart with my yellow sleeveless top, tiny skirt, and heels. And I didn't forget the 'stache! This whole costume counts as drag for me since this queer lady NEVER wears make-up, skirts below the knee, or heels (they're borrowed!). And, of course, the moustache. ;-)

Before I stayed home with my child, I worked in a charity-run HIV/AIDS hospice in which many of the residents had been abandoned by their friends and families because of their sexual orientations and because because they suffered from such a stigmatized disease. Volunteers, who are angels come to earth if you ask me, sit and hold the hands of these men and women as they pass on. Thank you, Mercury Phoenix Trust. I fully support this cause!

And I had a lot of fun today, even though I never left my house.

Signed,

A.V.D.
